We’re all children at heart!!

We have an excellent regular client who absolutely loves to do fun things – the more playful and imaginative, the better. Whenever he’s in town, many of our laddies quietly keep their diaries as clear as they can for him. Just like him, they secretly share his taste for light‑hearted adventures. They know that if he’s visiting, the day will likely involve laughter, a touch of silliness, and a story they’ll be recounting for weeks.

On this occasion, one of the ladies he chose suggested something a little different: a visit to Hamleys. She knew he was a big kid at heart, so a famous toy store seemed perfect. What she didn’t expect was to discover that, despite all his trips here, he had never been there before. When she described the store – the multiple floors, the shelves full of toys, the staff demonstrating gadgets in the aisles – his eyes lit up with delight. You could almost see him racing through the possibilities in his mind.

This was exactly the kind of date he enjoys. It fit perfectly alongside other unforgettable outings he’s had with us. Not long ago, one of our ladies spent a full day with him at Chessington World of Adventures. They tackled roller coasters, shrieked on the water rides, and wandered through the park like two teenagers on holiday. On another occasion, he booked a full paintball day. He and his companion ended up splattered in colour, ducking behind trees, and laughing as they plotted their next ambush. He never runs out of ideas, and our ladies adore how wholeheartedly he throws himself into each one.

Anticipation for the Hamleys Date

When we called the lady in question to confirm the date, she could barely contain her excitement. She loved the idea from the moment he agreed. The booking was set for a Saturday, with a 10 am start, so they could make the most of the day. He tends to reserve his dates a few months in advance, in a slightly irregular pattern that keeps us on our toes. Still, there was nothing unusual about this arrangement – just another eagerly anticipated adventure with a favourite client.

Saturday arrived, and she set off to meet him at his luxurious 5‑star hotel. The lobby was as impressive as ever: polished marble floors, tall vases of fresh flowers, and the gentle murmur of well‑heeled guests. When he appeared, he wore his usual distinctive attire. He loves bright colours and bold patterns – shirts many men would avoid – but on him, they work. His clothes reflected his personality: vibrant, warm, and impossible to ignore. She greeted him with a warm hug, and they both remarked on how much they’d looked forward to the day.

A Sweet Start: Coffee and Cake

Before heading straight there, they decided to start with something comforting. They slipped into a nearby café with big windows, a soft buzz of conversation, and the rich smell of fresh coffee in the air. As they stood at the counter, scanning the menu, he turned to her with a mischievous grin and asked if she’d like sprinkles on her hot chocolate. He said it with such childlike enthusiasm that she had to laugh. She loves fun, but she politely declined the sprinkles and chose a generous slice of moist carrot cake with thick cream cheese frosting. He ordered a coffee and something sweet of his own, and they took a small table by the window.

Over sips of their drinks and mouthfuls of cake, they talked about what they were most excited to see at Hamleys. He reminisced about his favourite childhood toys. She shared stories about games she used to play and silly things she used to collect. By the time they finished, the anticipation had built nicely. They were both grinning like conspirators about to get up to some harmless mischief.

Entering the Magic

They stepped back out into the busy London streets and made their way there, weaving through shoppers and tourists. As soon as they neared the famous storefront, he slowed down to take in the colourful window displays and the steady flow of people. The moment they crossed the threshold, the outside world seemed to fade. The air was filled with excited chatter, the sounds of toys being demonstrated, and bursts of laughter from children and adults alike.

Very quickly, they both turned into overgrown kids in a sweet shop. Only this time, the sweets were toys, games, and gadgets spread across several floors. They wandered through each section at an easy pace, stopping often to point things out. One minute, they were studying intricate model cars and trains, the next, they were trying silly party accessories in front of a mirror. They pulled faces and giggled like old friends. Staff members showed off flying drones, magic tricks, and remote‑controlled cars zipping across the floor. He couldn’t resist trying more than a few.

Every so often, one of them would let out a delighted exclamation: a genuine “Look at this!” or “You have to see this one!” At one point, they found a nostalgic display filled with toys from their childhoods. They compared memories, swapped small anecdotes, and realised they had surprisingly similar tastes when they were young. Time slipped by as they moved from floor to floor, caught up in the colours, sounds, and constant activity.

When they finally checked the time, they realised they had spent a full two hours there. It felt like less. In truth, they could have stayed even longer, especially him. There was always one more game to try, one more shelf to explore, one more strange little gadget to poke and prod. It was the kind of visit that leaves your cheeks aching from smiling.

A Casual Burger Break

After so much wandering, laughing, and playing, they both realised they were hungry. They left the toy‑filled wonderland and walked a short distance until they found a casual burger place that looked inviting. The warm smell of grilled patties and crispy fries drifted out as they stepped inside. They chose a cosy corner table and settled in. While waiting for their food, they replayed the highlights of the day. They talked about the silliest toys, the funniest demonstrations, and the small treasures they had decided to take home.

Between bites of juicy burgers and handfuls of fries, their conversation flowed easily. They talked not only about the day but also about previous adventures. They remembered the rollercoasters and the paintball bruises they had compared afterwards. Each story added to the sense of ease between them. There was a warm familiarity that comes from spending time with someone who genuinely enjoys your company.

Returning to the Hotel

When they finished eating and drained the last of their drinks, they decided to head back to his hotel. The afternoon light was starting to soften as they walked through the West End, still lifted by the playful energy of the morning. Back at the hotel, the doorman greeted them with a polite smile as they passed through the entrance and took the lift up to their room.

Behind the privacy of the hotel door, the mood began to shift. The laughter and light‑hearted teasing didn’t vanish, but it softened into something more intimate. The childish glee of toy shops and burgers slowly gave way to a more grown‑up kind of connection. It felt just as personal and enjoyable, simply different.

A Perfect Blend of Fun and Chemistry

What began as a day of pure, innocent fun at Hamleys and a relaxed lunch in the city gently evolved into an afternoon and evening to remember. It became a perfect blend of playful adventure and adult chemistry. It was exactly the kind of experience that keeps him, and our ladies, coming back for more.
